I live down in metro Atlanta, but taking a day trip to Morganton to visit Bruce Mountain Farm is worth the beautiful drive. Though I’ve known Shannon and Ruth for a long time, I have no doubt that any visitor will leave feeling like family and inspired to experiment in the kitchen. Recently, while Shannon was in Atlanta for a visit, we made some delicious bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers with fresh peppers from the farm. They were simple to put together, and we were able to share a cider and a chat while they baked in the oven. They turned out absolutely delicious! Just the right amount of flavorful heat with gooey cheese and crispy bacon – my mouth is watering just thinking about it! I am so excited about visiting the farm this spring and summer. I can take a break from city traffic, show my toddler the great outdoors, and come home with a basket full of heirloom tomatoes, peppers, and squash! I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday!
